Dopamine Dressing - how to do it... warning - this is life changing! 💫
Save this post and check back regularly to look and feel your best this year! 📌
Dopamine dressing is using the power of a great outfit to feel good! Like all choices in life, our clothes have the power to make us feel better or worse. When you look good, you feel good - our posture changes, you smile more, feel more confident and the effect is magnetic. Others sense your good mood and treat you better as a result - it’s a win win!
All you need to do is wear clothes which you enjoy and feel good wearing. It might be a sequin top leftover from party season that you can dress down with more casual item, it might be a particular fabric that drapes beautifully and feels wonderful against your skin or a shirt in exactly the right colour to bring out your eyes.
Besides wearing exactly the right shade to give you a radiant glow, there are also specific ‘feel good’ colours that can give you a lift and it’s handy to have a colourful clothing toolbox ready whenever you need a little lift; blue is calming and reassuring if you feel nervous, green is nurturing and relaxing if you are stressed, pink is gentle and loving, orange is zingy and energising, yellow is happy and uplifting.
They are called ‘glad rags’ for a reason - they bring us joy! Don’t let all your favourite party pieces gather dust in the wardrobe for the rest of the year, make a point of wearing them, even if the occasion doesn’t demand it. I’m not suggesting housework in ballgowns (although if it was good enough for Freddy Mercury.) but why not get those statement earrings out for a quiet coffee with your friend, wear the high heels to a lunch date or silk blouse to go shopping - it will change your emotional state for the better.
Why not approach your outfits more mindfully this year, and literally ‘dress for success’ - you will have a pep in your step and when you catch your reflection in a mirror you will feel far more positive about what you see… More good things will follow!

The IT Dress of 2024
When a dress is so good, it needs a whole square on the grid! 🥰
Just so impressed with the latest Aspiga collections, the clothes are designed with real women in mind, incorporating super-flattering design details which flatter a range of body shapes.
This fabulous frock comes in lots of colours and a V neck option too, which can be good for larger busts.
What with very wearable clothes and impeccable ethics, Aspiga have to be one of my favourite independent brands on the Great British High Street.

My favourite motivational hack 💫
You are going to want to refer back to this time and time again so save this somewhere safe 📌
Thought I’d share something I find so useful if I fall into the doldrums - or January blues - and lose my motivation mojo, with a little practical example of how.
This isn’t ‘new from me’ it’s a motivational technique I have heard from many speakers in the self-development space, but it’s one that really speaks to me - hence sharing it with you all here.
I’m going to come clean - I have a tendency to self-sabotage - whether it is working on a work project, taking care of my health or simply phoning that friend, I am an EXPERT in putting things off because I don’t feel like it - and as a result I don’t always get the outcome I desire.
I first learned about thinking about yourself in the third person from a wonderful therapist I saw when at Drama School - I can tell you, some of those ‘emotional memory’ method acting techniques brought a lot more to the surface than I bargained for - and he advised me to picture myself as a tiny bird with a broken wing when I was feeling particularly depressed or self-destructive and it worked. Somehow, taking my ‘current self’ out of the picture, enabled me to care for myself properly, just as I would have done if it was a friend in need, - it helped me show up for myself, which I was really struggling to do.
This little hack, of once again removing my present self from the picture and focussing on the woman I am becoming, I have also found so useful and really helps me to crack on with some of the less appealing tasks on my to do list 📃
It enables me to look out for myself, building self-trust and self-esteem. Thanks to this hack, I know my life is in a safer pair of hands as I am taking care of the future me, even if the present me doesn’t feel like it.
Does this resonate with you? I’d love to hear what you think.
It’s had a big impact on me recently so too good not to share 💛

Oh Hello 2024!!! 💫
.....see what I did there?!!
Kicking off this shiny new year with an article that I am particularly proud of. Not only because I absolutely love everything about @hellomag and it’s super-exciting to be in it - but because I got to talk, extensively, about the topic that drives me every day.
I chat about how I help women rediscover their fashion mojo, reconnect with who they truly are, and live the stylish, carefree life they were born to live.
In midlife particiularly, style can take a second seat due to the demands of our busy lives, as our bodies, hormones and lifestyles change and our confidence plummets, it’s easy to feel invisible, irrelevant and completely lose touch with the woman that you are.
My master mission in life, is to gently guide women like you back to yourself, to reconnect and appreciate your new bodies, to show up for and support yourself, and rediscover the transformative power of feel good fashion, and all that goes with it ✨
This is not just about getting your colours done and dressing for your body shape (although both are vital) this is about embodying who you were born to be, designing your days... and ultimately your lives through mindful dressing and repairing the synchronicity between your energy on the inside and how you express it through your image to the outside world 🌎
It’s reminding you that feel good fashion is not an act of vanity or selfishness, but that it’s an act of self-care which in turn will make you a better mother, lover, sister or friend - the sartorial equivalent of putting your own oxygen mask on first 💛
