Feel Good Fashion & Beauty Tips

Hola from Spain!

Still here enjoying the sunshine... I've definitely wound down a bit, we've had a wonderful time with friends and family... deep conversations, great food and plenty of laughter. It has to all come to an end but I'm hanging on tightly to these last few precious days, filled with special moments that will keep my heart singing for the rest of the year...

I’m rounding up this week’s Feel Good Fashion & Beauty favourites from my content on Instagram!

Thinning hair chat... 💁🏼‍♀️

Lots of messages coming in about my recent post sharing my transformation, and especially what I have done about my thinning hair - so I’m going to share some tips with you below...

✨ I was always told by my hairdresser I could never have hair extensions, but that’s exactly what I did - I got hair extensions! I’ve done everything from nanos, to tapes, to a weave even (not recommended)! Tapes are easy, quick and relatively inexpensive, so that’s a good place to start. If you are curious ask your questions in the comments below! 💫

✨ I’m going to be seeing a trichologist very soon so watch this space! A trichologist is a specialist in hair and scalp health - let me know if the comments if you’d like me to do a video on my experience. 💫

✨ Other easy wins include The Hayou Gua Sha (the comb) on the scalp to promote growth, a good Biotin supplement which does the same (you need quite a lot), finally L’Oreal magic retouch spray, Oribe volume powder spray and the Dyson air wrap are all brilliant for creating a thicker look! 💫

✨ Also collagen!! We start to lose our own from 30! Bovine is way better than marine as it's far cleaner and is also good for your gut, bones and muscles. 💫

Nude Accessories

One of the quickest and easiest style tips I can give you is to pick a favourite neutral for the majority of your accessories wardrobe 💫

It works, give it a try!

Adding accessories in a similar tone, is the fastest, easiest way to look chic and put-together, and will remove a lot of the decision fatigue from your daily dressing in a flash!

There's a bit of leeway... in my case I go for cream/ivory/camel and gold, I have always loved the freshness of cream boots, or perhaps an ivory bag to really lift an outfit. Most of my wardrobe tends to be on the more colourful, brighter side and whites really work as a neutral accent which lift the whole look and complement my colouring ✨

For you, you might choose black, brown, grey or tan... but having plenty of your accessories; bags, hats, belts even a coat or two in a single colour means that pulling together a cohesive look in a hurry is far easier.

Side note... combining different tones of whites together in an outfit looks sublime and oh so chic! Just make sure the colour directly under your face is a complementary one (for me - I'm warm skinned - a true cream suits me best, pure white can be very severe so be careful, or go heavy on the makeup)!

Bracelet Hack

How frustrating is it when you are alone and cannot manage your jewellery by yourself!!!

This is why I always carry a paperclip in my makeup bag! 💫

Holiday Dance Party

About last night... when you challenge a spritely 11 year old to a dance off!! 🤣

Sharing another possibly rather embarrassing video, in the spirit of keeping things real... don’t worry, plenty of pretty pictures and fabulous outfits in the pipeline!

Just the most perfect evening yesterday of pratting around and letting off steam with the best company washed down with some rather delicious Pina Coladas made by our resident mixologist Steve! 🍹

Every year I look back at the previous photos of our Spanish summer and marvel at how the kids have changed... this year it’s my turn... it’s been super hot, and that and the usual few holiday treats has caused me to feel less Pink Panther and more Puffer Fish!

Something to be addressed when I get back home, fortunately, thanks to my background in naturopathy I know what to do... I’m certainly not going to let those hormones get the better of me.

In the meantime, focussing on the more important things, such as cherished moments like these 💫

Glimmers

Do you know about glimmers? They are little tiny moments that make you happy - the opposite of triggers which definitely do not - it could be a beautiful colour combination, a fabulous outfit, a perfectly blue sky, a first sip of morning coffee, an invigorating warm shower, and so on.

Did you know we can actually retrain our brain to be happier? All you have to do is get it thinking positively, and looking for glimmers is an easy way to do this.

I like to turn it into a game and count as many as I can in one day. There are so many little pleasures that it’s easy to take for granted. Just imagine you have 24 hours left on this planet and how you would then savour every little moment if t was going to be your last... the breeze rustling through autumn leaves, the smell of fresh bread... we are surrounded by glimmers... once you start noticing them, it’s amazing how wonderful you feel ✨
