Feel Good Fashion & Beauty Tips
I spent a week in New York and it was magical! So many beautiful Christmas displays light up the city - I just had to share them with you over on Instagram. If you weren’t in the Christmas spirit before, you will be after seeing them!
I’m rounding up this week’s Feel Good Fashion & Beauty favourites from my content on Instagram!
What I'm wearing and why.... 💛
Jigsaw do brilliant, well-priced tailoring that I've always loved, but these days I like dressing it down for a more smart casual vibe. I got these trousers and blue knit from the great store in Winchester, where I just happened to bump into the lovely Felicity Day Style who follows me (such a small world) and provided the best service of course!! In these grey days I turn to bright colours more often than not for a dopamine hit, and a colour clash is one of my favourite ways to do this. Who said blue and green should never be seen?! 💙
Underneath the sweater I have a sleeveless collared layering piece from Me and Em which lifts the look, as do the chunky white trainers at the bottom (mine are Alexander McQueen but there are dupes everywhere) the slightly wide leg of the trousers balance out my boobs, the slight tuck of the knit makes my legs look longer when I'm not wearing heels, the shoulder pads provide a bit of need structure to my sloping torso, and the jewellery details of the necklace, and earrings and bracelets bring the whole look together and make it look finished! Voila! ✨

Things Women Over 40 Need To Stop Wearing
The festive season has officially begun, the sparkles are being dusted off, legs are coming out, high heels may cripple us, but we'll give them a damn good go, boobs will be nestled into cleavage-enhancing lingerie and the red lipstick will get it's annual outing.... or maybe you crave a more dressed-down Christmas, with loungewear, soft knits and your fluffiest PJs on repeat? 🎄
You have no idea how many clients, particularly women, come to me with fears of being judged about what is and isn't 'acceptable' to wear when they reach a 'certain age'.
I have said this before, and I will say it again.... what a load of BOLLOCKS!!!!!!! 🤬
DO NOT listen to voices - whether they are yours or belong to someone else - that make you try to feel small.... we have one, precious, short, rollercoaster of a life... don't waste it apologising for who you are 💛
Everything is energy, we are energy, and so is what we wear. If the energy of an outfit makes you feel fabulous and EXPANSIVE - then wear the god damn outfit, as it is going to make you magnetic, and we will all bathe in that magical glow, whereas if an outfit makes you feel ugly, small or give you a contracting SHRINKING feeling, it is not for you.
Sometimes it isn't the clothes that aren't right but it's simply that they don't match your energy at that given moment, which is when you need to look after yourself, give yourself a little space and time and go inwards to see what that inner child inside you is trying to say..... nine times out of ten, it's lacking a little - or a lot of love, a brilliant therapist once told me to treat myself as if I was a little bird with a broken wing at times like these, and just give myself whatever I needed to be nurtured and heal. It's stuck with me ever since.
But back to the FASHION! Do NOT, I beg of you, apologise for expressing yourself in a killer outfit this Christmas, give yourself full permission to wear whatever brings you joy and relish the fact that by doing so, we will feel it too.... ✨

All the fun of the fayre ❄️
As if you didn’t need another excuse to visit the wonderful city of Winchester, we have one of the best Christmas markets in the country and the beautiful Cathedral, which is possibly the most festive thing you will do all season! It’s super scenic, looking up at the beautiful architecture, the air is filled with the smells of Christmas and the market stalls hold delights you won’t be able to find on the high street 💫
I recommend visiting after dusk falls, so the magical twinkling lights are in full swing. If you fancy a bit of retail therapy beforehand, Winchester boasts one of the best selections of independent shops around, we have Sass & Edge, Pavilion 5 and The Hambledon for the best in fashion, Aspiga for stunning designs which are sustainable too and H&B Style for THE BEST unusual gifts and homeware 🎁
Definitely all worth a visit and a grockle - I just love that word, English at it’s best!!

Winter Style Tips
And the (fashion) moral of the story is?
Make it your own!! 💫
Don’t be afraid to have a play.... make it work for you!
Who said a coat or jacket can’t be worn indoors? Who said you can’t use a leather belt to cinch them? Who told you to keep those poppers there....🤔
Go forth and customise, my fashionista friends! ⭐️

Dyker Heights Lights
Briefly interrupting fashion transmissions to bring a little Christmas magic into your feed 🎅🏻🎄✨
If you've been keeping up with stories, you'll see I'm in NYC this week, and last night had the pleasure of visiting the crazy Christmas lights at Dyker Heights in Brooklyn ✨
It's well known that the Americans like to do things bigger and better, and this neighbourhood certainly didn’t disappoint - it would bring out the inner child in anyone!
Utterly bonkers - but totally brilliant!

Royal Fashion at Christmas
Fashion takes centre stage when the Royal Family celebrate Christmas at Sandringham - here are some surprising rules one must follow during festive celebrations with the Royals 🎄
There are black tie dinner at Christmas Eve and Christmas Day - the late Queen would oversee the seating plan herself, and no spouse was allowed to sit next to each other.
The dress code required floor length gowns, jewels, and tiaras for the ladies ✨
There were many changes during the 72 hour celebrations - one must wear something different for lunch, Christmas dinner, and a change if they went for an afternoon dog walk - a palace aid once said the newer members often find the fashion alone quite exhausting!
