Feel Good Fashion & Beauty Tips

Hello from sunny Spain! We have escaped to Spain to check in on the villa and spend a week getting the last of the warm sunshine, swimming in the sea, eating yummy food, and of course wrapping up some projects before the end of the year.

I’m rounding up this week’s Feel Good Fashion & Beauty favourites from my content on Instagram!

No waist?! No problem! 💫

Big, beautiful bottoms and curvaceous hips and thighs - listen up! 💫

Here are my top tips for balancing your figure and feeling fabulous.

Why not save this post for future reference and avoid any more wardrobe dilemmas! ⭐️

Thanks to Kim Kardashion, the ‘pear shape’ is fashionable again, so ignore this advice if you wish to accentuate your derriere, but to bring your upper and lower body into alignment,  focus on broadening the top half.

Three ways to do this are; via colour (wearing a lighter brighter shade on top to make your torso appear larger than your legs, thus rebalancing your silhouette); via texture and detail (big hair, statement earrings, textured fabrics and embellishments around your face and shoulders are flattering) or via volume - yes, the shoulder pads again! ✨

Layering up on the upper body adds interest and draws the eye. Always define your waist to emphasize beautiful curves, but feel free to ‘move it up or down’ by tucking your top until it sits at the most flattering point.

A pointed shoe lengthens the leg, and displaying a little ankle adds a feminine touch. Finally, pay attention to where hemlines finish at your hip, any ‘break’ in your outfit will draw attention to that point, so ensure your clothes do not finish at your widest point.

Princess Anne the fashion icon ⭐️

Well it’s that time of the week again, which means it’s time to grab the popcorn and enjoy a little Royal Fashion segment, pulled over from that other app...

This one is all about the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, who, I have to say I sort of grew up with, as she would often be on the Cotswold equestrian circuit when I was in my riding days ( I had the most beautiful, but incredibly stubborn Chestnut pony called Flame whom I adored, but threw me off more times than I can remember.... many a current day back problem stems back to many nasty falls... but I digress...) I didn’t think of Anne as any sort of fashionista at the time, as I was used to seeing her on horseback, but having recently looked back at her ‘back catalogue’ of wardrobe moments, I have to say that there have been some pretty splendid ones, and certainly enough to make a little video all about them... so here we are... enjoy! 💫

The question is not whether you have style, it's whether or not it's being expressed 💫

Do you agree? Does everyone have great style, but some simply aren't expressing it, or are hiding their sartorial light under a bushel?! ⭐️

Let me know if you agree or not in Instagram comments!

Postcards from.... Winchester! ✨

I recently popped into the fabulous Aspiga shop in beautiful Winchester and couldn't resist trying on some of the pieces in their A/W collection - let me know which is your favourite outfit in the comments below 💛

If you aren't familiar with them, Aspiga are a brilliant, homegrown, independent brand dotted around the South and also available online, founded by the absolute powerhouse who is Lucy. They are sustainable, have impeccable ethics, are B Corps certified which is NOT easy in fashion, and above all, have the most stunning designs, which suit a range of body shapes and make you feel great ⭐️

This fabulous shop is an absolute treasure trove, and definitely not the only reason to visit this beautiful city which is full of gorgeous shops, bustling eateries packed with history.

The Cathedral is a must visit, it's just stunning and at at this time of the year has the popular Christmas Market featuring a scenic ice rink in the grounds, there are also the beautiful water meadows which make the perfect lazy Sunday stroll with an ice cream after a slap up gourmet lunch at Chisel Rectory🍴

There's also the original King Arthur's round table, situated in The Great Hall, my favourite local cinema Everyman Winchester serving delicious nibbles whilst you watch your favourite movie from a squishy sofa, or, if it's nightlife you crave , Incognito serve the most delicious - and dangerous - cocktails beyond your wildest dreams! 🍹

Winchester really has a lot to offer and it makes a great day out, so why not come and say hi?!

Get ready with me - styling a jumper dress 💫

Turning a slightly shapeless, but nevertheless lovely jumper dress (Anthropologie past season) into something way more sophisticated and sharing how....

Top takeaways from this reel.... fashion tips incoming.....

Save for future reference! 💛

Whenever possible, showing a little wrist, and/or ankle will make you look more shapely and feminine, allowing you to get away with wearing looser, baggier clothes, if it’s too cold for flesh, go with a contrasting colour like I’ve done here.

Even if you don’t have a waist, defining it can make you look like you have more of one 👌🏼

If part of your body looks or feels too wide/square/blocky in an outfit, just try to divide the area with vertical lines, this can be hair, necklines, layers, patterns or jewellery.

Tighter, higher necklines such as turtle necks are generally harder to wear than a cowl or v neck for example.... but there are lots of tricks to help!

Dressing tonally always looks sophisticated 🙌🏼

Are you ready to talk about THE royal outfit of the year? ⭐️

Let’s dive deep into the STUNNING brand new gown won by Princess Catherine for the State Banquet ✨

The breathtaking ‘Anemone’ gown by Jenny Packham felt really familiar and that is because Kate remained faithful to her signature style silhouette: soft A line skirt, fitted waistline and all the drama in the shoulders which all perfectly flatters and suits Kate’s slender figure. You might also find it familiar as the Princess wore a very similar ‘Elspeth’ Jenny Packham gown to the State Banquet last year - proving she in not afraid to stick to her unspoken fashion mantra which is “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” 👌🏼

The gown on the whole was simple and clean proving the perfect blank canvas for ALL of the royal regalia which adds to that wonderful sense of ceremony on such special evenings.

Watch until the end for a very sweet tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II 💛

What do you think - does choosing a similar style dress keep Kate consistently stylish, or do you think she should opt for something more daring and new?
